Periodic Labs is a San Francisco AI-for-science lab founded in 2025 by Liam Fedus and Ekin Dogus Cubuk, who came from OpenAI and DeepMind. What it is building: an AI scientist plus autonomous robotic labs for materials discovery; already working with a semiconductor maker on heat dissipation. It has raised $300M in disclosed rounds, most recently a Seed of $300M at a $1.3B valuation in September 2025, led by Andreessen Horowitz. Its work reaches customers through partnerships rather than a public product.
