World Labs: who founded it, who funds it

World Labs is a San Francisco world model lab founded in 2024 by Fei-Fei Li, Justin Johnson, Ben Mildenhall and Christoph Lassner, who came from Stanford, Michigan, DeepMind and Meta. What it is building: spatial intelligence: large world models that generate explorable 3D worlds. Marble is the first product. It has raised $1.23B in disclosed rounds, most recently a Series B of $1B at a $5B valuation in February 2026. AMD agreed to acquire World Labs for $8.2B, announced 28 Sep 2026; pending close.
